The strength of titanium and titanium alloy

- Jan 14, 2020-

The strength of titanium and titanium alloy is divided into Tensile strength, Yield strength, Shear strength and Bearing strength.

Tensile strength: the tensile strength of pure titanium is 265-353Mpa.

General titanium alloy is 686-1176 Mpa, the high can reach 1764 Mpa.

Titanium alloys are as strong as many steels, but specific strength of titanium alloy much stronger .

Compression strength: the compression strength of titanium and titanium alloy is not lower than its tensile strength.

The compressive yield strength of pure titanium is approximately equal to the tensile yield strength, while the compressive strength of Ti-6Al-4V and Ti-5Al-2.5Sn is slightly higher than the tensile strength.

Shear strength: the shear strength of titanium and titanium alloys is generally 60% to 70% of the tensile strength.

Bearing strength: the bearing yield strength of titanium and titanium alloy sheet is about 1.2 -- 2.0 times of the tensile strength.
