Available forms of Titanium Grade 6 are seamless pipe, welded pipe, seamless tube, welded tube, bar, wire, sheet, plate, forgings, pipe fittings and flanges.
Characteristics: High service temperatures (480°C), Intermediate strength, Improved high temperature strength compared to unalloyed Ti, Excellent weld fabricability, Oxidation resistance, Microstructure stability, Nonheat-treatable (contains only iron impurity as a beta-stablizing element)
Applications: Gas turbine engine casings and rings, Aerospace structural members, Chemical processing equipment
Microstructure: Equiaxed alpha - when treated/worked below beta transus, Acicular alpha - when treated/worked above beta transus, Beta (bcc) - small amounts may be present
Forms typically available: Billet, bar, rod, plate, sheet, extrusions, and wire.
